Bonjour! Ciao! Salvete! Howdy and how-do-you-do?!
I’m Sarah *Hebrew spelling* and I am the voice behind Home the Movement.
Like you, I live at home.
Home is so much more than a physical space. It is a feeling, a sanctuary, and a reflection of who we are. Within these plaster walls, we build the mystery that is family. Under this roof, we nurture our individual and communal lives. We bake the bread, sweep the floors, read the books, make the music.
“Man wanted a home, a place of warmth, or comfort, first of physical warmth, then the warmth of affections.” –Henry David Thoreau
Home incorporates the finest of details with the grandest of philosophies. It pairs the beauty of rugged, aged wood with the shimmer of sparking jewels in a way to highlights the virtues of both, the delightful giggle of a fumbling child with the sanguine focus of his loving parents. Home is a delicious daydream of ideals and petty pursuits woven together into a magnificent tapestry of lives well lived.
Somehow the hum of the vacuum inspires the productivity of the student upstairs; the smell of the simmering stew calms a heartbreak; the rhythm of the piano player calms the nerves; and one person’s highs and another person’s lows are leveled at the dinner table when the unison of the family prayer joins the choir invisible.
What I’ve learned is that any investment in the direction of home pays momentous dividends in the areas of relationship, health, and purpose. For me, it stands at the crossroads of personal sanctification and social action. It is worthy of deeper attention and cultivation.
I am honored and privileged to welcome you to Home the Movement. It is a spiritual journey – will you join?
Peace,
Sarah Jess
